Frequently Asked Questions
Whether your pet needs emergency care, advanced surgery, or just a fast answer in the middle of the night, we’re here for you—and that means keeping things as clear and stress-free as possible. Below are some of the most common questions we get. Don’t see yours? Just give us a call—we’re here 24/7.
Yes! Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital of Prosper and Frisco (VESHPF) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—including weekends and holidays. Emergencies don’t follow a schedule, and neither do we.
No appointment needed—just walk in. We triage every patient upon arrival to ensure those in critical condition receive immediate care.
Great question. If your pet is showing signs like:
- Trouble breathing
- Uncontrollable vomiting or diarrhea
- Collapse or seizures
- Trauma (car accident, fall, etc.)
- Ingestion of something toxic
- Bloated or painful abdomen
…it’s best to come in immediately. See our “Is This an Emergency?” page for a more comprehensive list of signs.
Yes! Not every situation is a life-or-death emergency—but it’s still urgent to you, and we take that seriously. We offer same-day care for things like limping, vomiting, ear infections, minor wounds, and more. Come in anytime.
We know how much it matters to be part of your pet’s care. That’s why we have an open ICU and treatment areas—you can be with your pet when possible, especially during hospitalizations and recovery.
Absolutely! We work closely with referring veterinarians across the region to ensure a seamless handoff and collaborative care. If your vet thinks your pet needs advanced diagnostics or surgery, they can send records directly to our team—or you can bring them with you.
Yes! While we love collaborating with primary care vets, you don’t need a referral to walk in for emergency or urgent care, or to schedule a consultation with a specialist.
Once we evaluate your pet, our team will walk you through everything—pre-op instructions, testing, expectations, and post-op care. Every surgery plan is tailored to your pet’s needs and lifestyle.
We accept all major credit cards, CareCredit, and pet insurance. A detailed treatment plan with estimated costs will be provided before treatment begins, whenever possible.
